New Delhi: The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) elected Ravi Sawant as its new treasurer.
"Ravi Sawant is the new treasurer replacing (Ajay) Shirke," a BCCI official told reporters here. Sawant was made the president of the Maharashtra Cricket Association in 2012, after defeating Ratnakar Shetty in the elections. In the past, he has been the MCA treasurer as well as the vice-president.
Shirke quit his post along with secretary Sanjay Jagdale on May 31 in the wake of the IPL spot-fixing scandal. Sanjay Patel of the Baroda Cricket Association had been appointed as the new secretary in Jagdale's place.
The BCCI is currently probing charges of spot-fixing against three Rajasthan Royals cricketers- S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. BCCI President N.Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra are also being investigated for their alleged involvement in betting on IPL games.
